Located at Copenhagen’s waterfront, a unit of the sustainable housing hosts 12 apartments across two levels. Three apartments on the ground floor and nine apartments on the 1st floor.
Urban Rigger is created by stacking nine shipping containers in a circle to bring the residents together.
The circle that frame the community areas represent how we build and live ecocentrically with respect to nature, organic life and the climate.

Apartment Type 1
There are nine square apartments on the first floor with large windows and a sliding patio door that opens to the water and invites the light in.

There are three bigger apartments on the ground floor. You can have a bed at one end and a dining area at the other. You also have your own balcony, and the water is just at the tip of your toes.

All Urban Rigger apartments are complete with:

Community Oasis
The design of the common areas focus on the view beyond the windows. Besides your own private space, you have a green courtyard for bikes, sub-boards and barbeques, direct access to a dip in the clean water and a huge rooftop terrace with a nice view towards the city center.

Who said basements have to be dark?
On Urban Rigger the ceiling skylights light up the spaces below sea level. These combine the life above with the kitchen and study room below the water. The interior design is by @boconcept
Although the residents have their own kitchen in their apartment, they have this area for community dinners and for inviting friends over.
There’s also a TV/lounge area, a laundromat, and individual storage rooms.
In short, you have a 300 sqm of social areas in the basement.
Conscious living
By living smaller we consume less and reduce our environmental footprint.
We, at Urban Rigger, encourage conscious living by cultivating good use of common resources.
One example is that in every Urban Rigger apartment, a 15 % energy consumption is saved by our light floor heating.
Equally distributed heating makes it possible to lower the room temperature and still feel warm. It is just one of the many ways the student residents of Urban Rigger can live comfortably and be part of the solution towards environmental challenges.

Post-industrial hub
Our housing in Copenhagen is easily reached by bike or bus from the city center in only 15 min. You can also take the public harbor bus directly from Nyhavn to Urban Rigger on a regular bus ticket.
The Urban Rigger housing is located in the vibrant island of Refshaleøen that in recent years has become a hub for creativity and alternative urban development.
You live in the city center, yet away from the sounds and distractions so you are able to focus and rest.
Life on Refshaleøen is cultural, colorful and vibrant with many and the communities and events that arise spontaneously, which Urban Rigger encourages and supports.
